Mixed Filler: A Blog Sampler for 2.28.08
Mixed Filler is a quick collection of snippets from the online stogie community. For the slower burning, long-filler versions just click on the links provided. Enjoy!
The week’s big headline is the split between Padilla and roller-blender extraordinaire Pepin Garcia. Cigar Aficionado coverage is here, and check out this thread on Cigar Live as well. Ernesto Padilla checks in to discuss plans for a new Miami factory, where production of his 1932 and 1948 lines will apparently continue with no change to the blend.
Elsewhere, Walt at The Stogie Review followed last week’s sneak preview of the Nub 460 Connecticut with an excellent report on the Nub 460 Cameroon. The 4″ x 60, beer can-like proportions strike me as awkward, but Walt writes that he got comfortable with it quickly.
Elvis at The Velvet Cigar tries the RP Vengeance and concludes that Rocky is “losing his Edge.” It’s a good read.
Jesse at Cigar Jack got his hands on a pre-release sample of the much anticipated Camacho 10th Anniversary Robusto. It looks and sounds like a winner, though the MSRP of $10.50 scares me.
Stinkie at Cigar Beat digs the 601 Blue Label Maduro Toro, while Cigar Inspector’s JL Graham was pleasantly surprised by his Ashton Classic 8-9-8.
Finally, Cigarfan at Keepers of the Flame smokes one of my favorites from Don Pepin, the Vegas Cubanas Generosos.
